Vases
My punty marks are cold worked smooth and each piece is signed and dated... Enjoy browsing my available designs and let me know if I can make a custom design for you. |
Gurple Spiral Vase This vase was made about a year ago and has yet to find a home. It is so close to perfectly formed for this shape, that I felt compelled to give it a bit more "airtime". For me, one of the most difficult parts to making vases is the opening. It is the last step in making a vase (unless you are adding handles or some other bit work) and I guess I tend to choke up a little. You see, there is such a huge time investment at this point and lots can go wrong as you continually tweak the final shape while the punty seems to get cold faster and faster. One false move, a simple vibration from just barely grazing the punty on the bench, can put your vase into freefall. I just know that one day, I will have worked on a vase that is so perfect I will involuntarily reach out and catch it with my hands as it falls off the punty. OUCH...hurts just thinking about it! I may have to charge a bit more when that happens :-) This opening, sort of like a snowcone, is actually pretty challenging to get right and I like the way it allows the color pattern to completely wrap around the vase. Includes purple, green and green-sparkle highlights. Measures 5" wide at the top and 9" tall. $70 |
Flower Fields Vase If you are ever in San Diego this time of year, be sure to visit Carlsbad and the amazing Flower Fields. Horizonal stripes of intense color paint the landscape on a hill overlooking the ocean. For this vase, my expert color consultant (Penny Michelle) instructed me to combine striking pink, lime-green and orange colors for your spring decor. The fluted opening allows the pick of your garden to form a natural floral arrangement. A thin stripe of purple highlights the very rim. Measures 11" high and ~7" wide at the top. $85 |
