About the artist...
| I live in Vista, California with my wife Penny and our house full of pets; two dogs, two cats and a bird. We are both artists as Penny makes jewelry with sterling silver, pewter and beads and has a line of sterling and pewter findings. We both work on each others businesses and she has encouraged me to follow my creative interests. In addition to my artwork, I have built and continue to manage a number of artist friends' websites. Prior to working in metal and glass, I held a job as scientist for a drug discovery company. I have a doctoral degree in Molecular Biology from UC-San Diego and actually met Penny in the lab we both use to work in at the Salk Institute. My first artistic endevours were classes at the local chapter of the California Blacksmith's Association and a weeklong workshop with Mark Aspery in Tulare, CA. I have taken a number of classes at the art department at Palomar College and also learned to weld from the excellent instructors there. I am fascinated by shaping glass with metal molds; the rigidity of the steel and the fluidity of the glass seem to open up endless possibilities for purely sculptural or functional works. I am just scratching the surface and I learn so much everytime I forge steel or blow glass. I hope to use my website to record my journey for myself and for those interested in my work. |
